There are certain venues when out on the vagrant that offer more than just a corner from which to do your best from. Certain venues are owned by people who are involved and still finding purpose and humour in it. Certain venues make you feel like the decades you’ve put in and the skills, songs and subtleties acquired through those hours are valued and respected. Everyone knows we’re not doing it for the money, and so the decision to continue hosting evenings of live music carries more weight, an intention beyond the balance sheet to be a part of art and life and connection for their rural community. Eggsentric Cafe is one such venue. I’ve been playing there for over a decade, through which time Dave has handed the baton on to his son Sam who has clearly taken on his fathers strong sense of a bigger picture creatively, if that makes cents (or not). I love this place.
I love this place.
